As of now corona virus is spreading very fastly. scientists has patterned two testing methods

1.RT – PCR Method

2.Antibody test

In this blog i am going to explain about RT -PCR method very short and precise

RT -PCR TECHNIQUE

Real time polymerase chain reaction is full form

First swab and blood samples are collected from the patients and will be taken to the labs. There,they will separate RNA from samples using some kits. After that, they will find the total RNA .With the help of REVERSE TRANSCRIPTASE they will convert RNA into DNA.

Then DNA, which is synthesized is used in POLYMERASE CHAIN REACTION (PCR)

PCR is nothing, simply amplifiying our DNA

In PCR our target DNA with some primers,dNTPs and taq polymerase with these some fluoroscence ( sybr green) are added. If corona virus DNA is present, then it well emit fluoroscence in positive case. If not it is a negative case

This PCR is controlled by computer

Why use real time RT-PCR?

The real time RT-PCR technique is highly sensitive and specific and can deliver a reliable diagnosis as fast as three hours, though usually laboratories take on average between 6 to 8 hours. real time RT-PCR is significantly faster and has a lower potential for contamination or errors as the entire process can be done within a closed tube. It continues to be the most accurate method available for detection of the coronavirus.
